Android Auto Wireless now works on the last three Generations of Samsung smart phones. S8 through Note 10. Will this now work on Sync 3 without the usb cable?

I seem to have wireless message notification and limited ability to play my media. I can't switch apps, like from my podcast app to Google play music, but if the podcast has started on the phone, I can play it wirelessly through android auto.

For the most part, the interplay between Sync3, android auto, my phone and me leaves a lot to be desired.

I was just wondering due to the Press Release yesterday stating that the newest Samsung phones would now work with Android Auto Wireless. I knew that the iPhone already did, so I assumed that the new update would put the Android flagship phones on equal footing.

Oh, I'm with you, as soon as I saw that press release I ran outside to see if my phone would work :)

After a gutshot of disappointment, I did the research to learn about the head unit restriction. For a long time, i thought AA was "on the phone", It's also in the radio. The two parts work together. Now, all that said I did see an article (https://www.lifewire.com/android-auto-wireless-4176354) indicating that my issue might just be because my 18 SCREW doesn't have wireless capabilities (hotspot). it does do wireless updates for SYNC3 but I can't seem to get it to work. for this use case.

Other years may work if they have the latest SYNC3 AA updates. So, I'm walking back my earlier statement about not working with SYNC3, It just may not work with MY SYNC3.

That's been my experience with Android Auto also...can't compare with the Apple system...it does play Pandora rather nice thru B/Tooth...

Best solution I've found is using Verizon Palm Mini using number share. Just leave the palm connected all the time. Works for maps, music, phone calls. Texting is unsupported as of now as the number share only works with Verizon+ messages.

interesting. It doesn't work wirelessly on my 19 f250. ( and it had the hotspot and all that crap) . I guess I can try it in my raptor the next time I see it.

My android auto is working better via bluetooth with my samsung Note 9. It works for audio fairly well, but not for navigation. I suspect navigation is too much info to pass via bluetooth without latency. I don't know.

So, I plug it in for Waze / Google maps, but when I play the audio it pauses about 3x / minute for about 3 seconds each. It seems to be conflicting with its own signal. Has anyone had this problem and found a fix? I tried updating my phone, the Android Auto seems to be pulling updates periodically as it's features are improving, it now displays a temp reading, etc.

Am doing a roadtrip in March and would sure like to be able to listen to podcasts without constant pauses. Not the worst of problems in the world, but pretty irritating.

I saw somewhere that people disconnected and reconnected the battery and it stopped the constant messages about updates. That too is irritating but it is a one and done / trip. I wouldn't mind doing the disconnect, but am worried it will cause a whole host of other settings to go south on me.
