those things are a gimmick if you ask me. we've never run them on our vehicles and we see temps of -15F to - 31F throughought winter, with about a week or two straight of -40F to -50F

block heaters are awesome to have though. warm up much faster, and much easier on the engine.

No need for one if you had a diesel in well below freezing I understand the winter front. On your raptor waste of money. Might take slightly longer to warm up but that is what a block heater and remote start are for. Running a winter front on anything if you block all air flow could be to your disadvantage. Another thing for winter front would be to block air flow to trans cooler to get the transmission temp up. Your raptor has a thermostatic by pass valve that doesn't allow transmission fluid to flow through the cooler until it reaches around 160 degrees F

I used one on my old Bronco's, but the 78's never generated much interior heat when it was really cold.
With the Raptor, I haven't seen a temp drop at operating speeds at extreme cold temps - she always likes to run just below the halfway mark summer or winter. I've never used the block heater either, but I run synthetic which helps on those frosty morning fire-ups.

And Greg - I also live about 8 hours south of the oil sands here. As we are starting to get more interest in the Alberta Area Raptors Group (AARG), you'd have some bro's nearby if you make the tour.
