And what can you sell your truck for right now? 2017s private party in the right part of the country are selling for more than $60k. I'm still miles ahead of you in terms of equity vs money spent. I've seen Gen1 selling for the low teens. Not holding their value so well anymore.

A 2013 with my options and mileage all are listed around here for $38K to $40K. I just looked yesterday actually. I bought it for $46K 2 years ago. It's holding it's value just fine.

Half of the two hundred 2013s on Autotrader are listed for $35k or less.

After factoring in a 10% discount between asking price and what the seller is willing to take, I'd say a good condition '13 priced-to-sell could be had for around $30k.

You'd need to find an incredibly gullible buyer to pay $40k. Without a doubt, those people are out there and if I were selling one, I'd probably start at $38k and take $35k.

But if I were buying, I would aim for $30k and could probably get a good truck from the right seller at that price.

The people asking more than $40k don't know what their truck is worth and are not serious about selling.

I know what they go for, I've watched the prices for over 4 years now. Like all vehicles, condition, miles, and options control the price. You can point to a beater with high miles and say see, they are cheap. I can point to a low mileage 14 in perfect condition with low mileage and all the options and say, look still selling for what it cost brand new.

Point remains- you are NOT miles ahead in equity vs money spent as you claimed.

Sorry to break this to you, but you bought your Gen1 at the top of the market. Prices have been tumbling ever since as Gen1 owners upgrade to Gen2 and the old trucks are piling up on dealer lots.

I have no doubt you can point to countless $40k listings, but all you are doing is showing me other people that are in denial about what their truck is worth. Median price is a good starting point and that is in the low $30s after factoring in the standard 10% discount. And a savvy buyer will do even better than that.

And FYI, about your options, they don't count for shit. Ask any of the dealers that frequent these boards. No one cares about your specialty interior, paint, or graphics. The only option that makes a real difference in the second-hand market is manual transmissions in high-performance cars. Everything else only adds a few hundred dollars at most. And that is factory options. After-market mods actually decrease value because used buyers don't trust modded vehicles.

I was out helping my mom find a new car over the weekend. The dealer had a 13 for 40k and a 14 for 45k. @jaz13 I think factory options make a difference. 800A vs 801A makes quite a difference on a GEN1. Just like an 800A vs 802A for a GEN2. I'm with you on aftermarket options though. I think they devalue a vehicle.

Here are those trucks from Saturday

I think a Jen I Raptor would be a perfect vehicle for Moms.

Long travel triangulated 4 linked Highlander bruh
:challenge:

They just happened to have a couple GEN1's at the dealer. Interesting to see vehicles that are 5 years old only dropping 7-10% from new. GEN1 or not that does not happen with many vehicles.
