Although I have not specifically checked at 2/3 of full compression, I can tell you I have worked my RPG/Fox 2.5” bump stops for about 10K miles of off-roading in Baja without any issues, which does include a lot of airtime
if I were yall, I would check the clearance between the 37" ko2 spare and the dif cover at 2/3rds of the way to full bump.
I think after you check that, you'll put the spare in the bed.
I would also make sure to weigh the 37 combo vs the factory combo. If I'm correct, it is the same exact part that is used on the superduty, Which absolutely breaks when you try to secure a 37 with it.
Or don't if you never give the rear suspension a workout.
Depending what wheel and tire combo you go with it could be the same weight. This post specifically asks about 37 KO2 which is almost the same weight as the OEM tire so you shouldn’t have any issues with weight. My current combo with Innov8 G500 and 37 KO2 is the same weight as OEM beadlocks and OEM tires. I am going to buy another G500 and 37 KO2 to use as a spare in the stock location. With my SW dump exhaust I should have no issues. I do like the idea of moving the spare to the bed in some kind of rack however I don’t want to give up the ability to use my truck as a truck to haul things, Kids bikes, random purchases etc. If I were to ever do crazy off road or Baja stuff where my spare got in the way like ZK I would build a truck specifically for that purpose like he did. Depends on what you are using your truck for.Sweet! I’ll stick a 37” spare on and skip the bump stop upgrade
But in all seriousness, the factory tire carrier can’t hold the weight of a 37? I hadn't heard this. Maybe there is a way to reinforce it..
I’m also interested in running a 37 on the smaller side of the spectrum once my OE 35’s run out.
