Why wouldn't Ford put 3.5 EcoBoost in Raptors?

After watching some videos from SW on a few ecoboost f150s, I would never get rid of the v8. The sound was thoroughly disappointing.

I never really found info on this but what made ford decide to go with dual plugs on the 6.2? Something about hot temperatures?

From Ford:
Two spark plugs per cylinder: Because of the large bore size, two spark plugs per cylinder are used to more efficiently burn the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber, enabling better fuel economy and increased engine torque. The twin plugs also help the engine maintain a smooth, stable idle.

Ah right. Thanks.
How many other big engine designs also have dual plugs? I don't think gm's 6.2 does, or the viper 8L.
Only engines with hemispherical combustion chambers - 6.2L Ford and Chrysler Hemi engines. The spark plugs are located at the near the edges of the combustion chamber, two are needed to get the best combustion. If there was only one, the single flame front would have to travel the entire width of the chamber - which would result in a slower burn than the dual flame fronts from the two plugs.

Here is a post with some cut-away pics of the head:

Good to know. Based on head design I gather they couldn't centralize the plug. Also didn't know the hemi's were dual.

Has anyone determined any noticeable benefits in having the larger engine? I guess it you take the performance curves and nothing stands out, there's nothing.

Sounds better

We actually ended up getting a 2013 Explorer Sport this past year though, so I still ended up with a 3.5 EB to drive around in. Makes the Raptor feel like a **** lol

Certainly that ~1500 curb weight difference doesn't matter right?

I drove an EcoTurd, 5.0 and 6.2 before buying the Raptor. Having a truck that couldn't get out of it's own way and sounds like a Honda Accord wasn't for me. :poop::poop:

So here is what we do..... Audio tape a Rapter and have Car integrate a system where he blasts it out when you hit the gas pedal. Solves the sound issue but still doesn't keep you from getting run over on the highway.... :)
