For those of you who traded from a Raptor to a Raptor R, did you find the insurance premium to decrease?

My insurance premium decreased by $420/year when I switched over to a 2024 Raptor R from my 2023 Raptor.

No changes to policy or location ($500K liability & $500 comp/collision deductible) Makes zero sense.

VIN was provided to agent, so there is no chance the wrong F150 trim was entered.

Because I felt this could not be right (paranoid if something happened I would get paid out at the replacement rate of a non R), I did inquire by asking the agent how a truck that’s got a $30,000 higher price tag & additional 200hp could result in a reduced policy premium. Agent response? No answer. No idea.

Curious if I am the only one here who experienced it.

Carrier: Geico

Mine was quoted at a much lower rate (2018 Raptor to 2024 Raptor-R) a couple of months before I received it. Due to the less then 3-year-old vehicle (re-placement parts availability) and some added safety features (auto braking..). It increased a little when they actually classified it as a supercharged V8, but still lower than what I was paying.
I also have a 2022 BMW X6 (with the M package), and it increased this year just due to over 3 years old, No one stores extra parts, and no one makes them after 3 years...
My carrier is USAA.

My 2023 was a bit cheaper than my 2020 and I traded a Ranger Rover Velar in for a C8 vette and that was cheaper too. I have a feeling it has to do with time on the road…they probably figure a Raptor R will be a lower mileage vehicle than a 3.5. Same as a Range Rover SUV will see more road time than a C8….If a car sees 5K miles a year vs 15K regardless of expense, it tends to be statistically less likely to be in a wreck. If i was an insurance company I would definitely not charge less for an R over a 3.5….but they go by their numbers.

I have a 23R and a 24EB and was shocked to find the were within $100 of each other ….. I am trading for a 25EB in the next week or so and will be curious to see if it’s basically the same as the 24….

Much cheaper as the majority of R owners spend 95% of they time at Starbucks.
