I'm not sure how paying 100k over is "destroying" the housing market. The housing market is on fire.

We could argue that inflation may be destroying general buying power.

Basically to not pay an ADM in CA you have to buy in the central USA (IL, MO, etc) and have it shipped back unless you have a dealer hookup. Gen 2 raptors had ADMs well into the second year of production even on the east coast and CA always had adms until maybe just before covid started.

There was a west coast guy on here that was ranting about ADMs yet in the end still bought a CA truck with a $5K adm....and it's like yeah dude that's why they keep charging them bc you people keep paying them...

I've been calling around dealerships in Northern California. The ADMs are ranging from $10k to $40k. One dealership, Downtown Ford in Sacramento told me their initial allocation is already spoken for and everyone is at a $30k-$40k ADM. She told me I can get on a waiting list for the second round, but ADM is $30k-$40k. Who the hell is paying these crazy ADMs?

I'm a free markets guy, but these ADMs are insane. I suppose it's the jackasses (and big ballers into the 70s pimp blue interior) that are to blame. If they weren't willing to bend over and pay, the dealerships charging these stupid high ADMs would have no business.

Ford should distribute their allocation differently. Downtown Ford in Sacramento gets their allocation regardless of how stupid they peg their ADMs, which takes allocation away from decent dealers selling at (or slightly above) MSRP... so the decent dealers are always limited in allocation.

Who can hook me up with a decent dealership who's not price gauging? I'm willing to travel out of state.

I ask because when I was in the market for a Raptor last year they were still selling 2020’s for 15-20k adm. The GM really acted like he was doing me a favor telling me he would let it go for 5k adm lol

California in general just has too much money flowing through it man. I think that goes with any specialty vehicle. Just a couple weeks ago I went in to Audi Rocklin to trade my wife’s Q8 in on a RS6 Avant, it had a 40k ADM on it and I thought no way they are serious about getting that so I offered 5k adm, I was laughed out of the dealership. Three days later that same car was sold for 50k over msrp to a woman in Beverly Hills.

I was at my local Ford dealer a few weeks ago for service and the dealership owner offered me $12k above what I paid on the spot for my SCAB. I said I was waiting for the Raptor R and would probably trade in next year. The owner said he has an alottment of 3 unit and all are pre-sold. 1 is shipping to the EU with a $50K ADM, the person had already pre-paid for the truck with the assumption it will be in the $150k range. If your holding out for the Raptor R your going to need have your finances in order because your not going to be paying anywhere near MSRP. The stock Raptor will go through it's selling cycle with ADM as well before things normalize.

How can the dealer possibly know his allocation for the R when it hasn't even been announced yet and won't be sold until at least next year? I think he's full of shit.

Edit to add: though I agree with your overall point on the markups - they will be insane, at least around the major metro areas.

Yeah, I talked with Future Ford. They wouldn't tell me how much of an ADM until the order banks open, but the salesman said the owner won't let a Raptor go without a sizeable ADM.

I've had dealers laugh when I talk about MSRP. "There's a line of guys behind you ready to pay!"

Some markets are absolutely on fire, some are being affected solely by Ex-Californian's who just sold their garage for $1MM+, and have no concept of value, so when they offer $100K over appraised values, making it so no one in the local market can afford housing, yes they are destroying the market IMO. Yes inflation is a major issue, but I'm talking about specific areas, TX, NV, UT, MT, ID all being flooded with an influx of people with a boatload of cash in their pocket and no idea how to spend it creating a artificial demand with their exodus.

Which dealer offered that? I love mine but it is a depreciating asset and this is great market...I would sell mine for that.

They must not be involved in the relocation program. Sure, there are a lot of CA refugees who move here, just not as many who actually are allowed to stay here.
