Kickin it in Canada!
Whipple said when they dyno'd their truck that the outside temperature was a lot higher than what most guys are seeing here. If they didn't have any problems with the cooling system of the Raptor while tuning it then I don't see there being any problem with it running as hot as some guys are seeing. It's possible that these motors just run at a higher temperature. I would have never even noticed it if I hadn't changed it to show my actual temperature in Forscan. And how many guys go running their trucks in the desert for hours and have had overheating problems? I haven't heard of one yet. And some of the members on here run these trucks damn hard. Hell Ford raced the baja with the stock cooling system and that would push the truck harder than a tune I would think. Also does anyone know if the turbos on the ecoboost are oil cooled or water cooled?

My experience with water wetter in older model cars and trucks that overheat it definitely works. As far as putting it in my raptor or any newer model car or truck, I would definitely only use it in an emergency. Or until I found out that nothing in it harms my motor or cooling system .

While you can use Water Wetter and think it's actually doing anything other than making your truck run a couple degrees cooler.. which won't do anything.... Do it the right way if you want a cooler running truck.

Buy this cheap thermostat and your truck will run cooler, period. Easy to do as well.

Reische Performance 170 Degree Performance Thermostat (Gen 2) Ford-50 - 5 Star Tuning

Description from their website:

"The 2nd generation Ford-50 thermostat is made with the same exact components as your OEM unit, including a rubberized diaphragm, and only available from Reische Performance. It’s a direct-fit unit with proper bypass control so you’re guaranteed maximum efficiency from your cooling system. No Chinese knock-offs here, this is the highest quality unit currently available for this application. 100% made in USA.

This thermostat will provide the best possible heat dissipation from your setup and even deliver better overall performance than our competitor’s 160° thermostats. Reische believes the 170° opening temp is the ideal balance for high performance engines, providing high flow to your radiator by mid-180 temps while still providing good all season performance. With proper fan settings your coolant temps in cool weather will be in the 170s and in hot weather the 180s, giving those running high levels of timing and/or boost added protection against engine-damaging detonation as well as maximum hp."

Sort of back on track a bit regarding the tomahawk programmer. I exchanged my plugs for 542s, stock ones were somewhat black for just 6k miles.

Currently flashing, on the reprogramming software update for some time now, how long did this portion of the flashing take you guys? Okay its done.

My short review on just the tune without cai or IC:
I changed the plugs before flashing, idling was smoother to start with.
Following the flash idle contd to be smooth.
The biggest change to me was throttle improved sensitivity, and improved gear shift logic in sport mode.
Power i can feel, nothing crazy but i was looking for something in the middle anyway. I didnt want to be too close to or higher than the 590lb rating of the transmission.

Overall i think its nice. Still testing, just a few miles now.
