so -

some feedback is to check your spark plugs gapped to .025...

stock plugs were gapped between. 035-.040.
if you run stock gap you may experience some backfiring issues

Runs perfect now with. 025 gap.... 13. 9 sec 1/4 mile

I don't think this is entirely correct. 5 star has access to the 2017 Raptor files and have modified them as they see fit. They have access and were able to read the stock engine management and transmission management.

Now... I'm sure they did use prior experience with other ecoboost trucks to develop their tune. Their tuned files are also encrypted.

I have a 5 star tune. It makes excellent power. I'm not sure the transmission map is ideal yet, but aside from Ford engineers trying to improve gas mileage, I'm not sure anyone knows what to do with the 10 gears. I can tell you their transmission maps are much more Performance oriented than Fords....

Even in stock form the truck hunts for gears at times and is hit or miss on proper downshifts. Five star addresses a lot of the lazy, laggy shifting.

Whipple may have addressed the shifting in a superior fashiOn, but it's a big gamble. What if their transmission map isn't aggressive enough? What if it's too aggressive? What if it isnt exactly what you want??? You're stuck with it. You can't keep mailing back your pcm and I doubt it they will want to keep tuning it anyway.

With 5 star they will work with you until the tune is just the way YOU like it. As will many others that come to the market.... like MPT.... which is do out soon.

I'm just not sold on a one shot mail away tune yet.

I tried 5 star tune and it was horrible. I habe a 2018 Raptor and after i tuned it and engaged my adaptive cruise control, my truck threw a wrench light. Then my turbos shut off, then my turbos came back on and were overboosting and then my engine seized up. I only had 10k miles on it.

I got a new engine and retuned it with 5 star and after having the adaptive cruise control on for a few miles my truck threw a wrench light on again. I pulled over and shut off the engine completely. Turned it back on and the wrench light was gone. I put my truck back to stock 6th tune and had 0 issues with the adaptive cruise control.

I returned my 5 star tune after talking with them and they wanted a 30% restocking fee!!!! I ended up going with a whipple tune because whipple wont void your warranty and they work hand in hand with Ford.

if you have a motor issue due to the tune , the fact that is a whipple tune wont help you,

I now have a whipple tune and have 0 issues with my truck. My truck has a lot more power, torque, shifts great, and is very responsive.
