Other than the mount, is there anything else needed to use the elite 5m? Are there maps loaded? Obviously, I know I'd have to get the pre ran plots loaded before hand from you guys, Bigg50. That one that Major got is the way to go, I guess...?

I have the same one as the Major. The lowrance's come with major highways and streets. You can purchase more detailed maps for them if you wish. However, you're good to go and don't need anything else with that unit. You can get the external antenna which I think is an additional 70 or so. But it's not necessary.

Hey, look what I found.... hopefully it's decent. $720ish out the door...but Lowrance has a $100 rebate for certain 7" models. This model applies. I think this should be what is needed? Any points to put in? I have no experience with these as you'll see...

Anyone know how this is supposed to work up there? Thinking of LGE CTS folding mount.

I wired down through the speaker area to the cigarette lighter wiring. Tapped in...and bam! Power to the GPS. I ran it today with Raptor Expeditions...200 off road miles or so. Worked great.
where did were you able to access to the wires from? Im assuming top of the dash but from the pics its hard to tell if there's room to run them down and then trace them from the lighter

Plenty of room to run power wire to lighter wiring. Top tray comes right out after removing the mounting screws. No curveballs.

I accessed the lighter wires through the glove box area.
