He's most likely talking about the plug itself. Electronics both emit, and are susceptible to, electromagnetic disturbances. In this case, the USB plug is emitting EMI, which the TPMS is susceptible to.

A proper USB plug will have shielding along the cable and at the connector, to limit the effects of EMI. An improperly shielded one, just plastic like RaptorMaryland is implying, would look something like below:

A properly shielded one would look more like this beneath the plastic:


For the aluminum foil, just wrap it around the plug (plastic) area. You're trying to recreate the metal shield in the above picture.

I tried the foil trick w/ a ferrite bead and it still doesn’t solve my problem. I wrapped the foil around the end of the plug at least 3-4 times. I then wrapped that with electrical tape to hide the foil. It is still interfering with my TPMS. At this point, my next course of action is to try a completely different dash cam. I hope the foil trick works do you.

Try moving your wires, the webcam forums suggested that as well. I am still 2 weeks from home, as now i get to visit dayton ohio for a Vietnam movie premier.

Run a ground wiire up and clip it on

And if that does not work get this

Check the size of the cable to cover, and if there are connectors on both ends then thats the size to use, or it will not slide on.


for the 7mm, order the 1/2" flat;
for the 22mm, order the 1.5" flat;
for the 17mm, order the 1.25" flat;

They claim a 60db attenuation, with grounding, which is way more than enough. Remember every 3db loss is 1/2 power, and thats multiple of 20 using that cover.

My first Raptor TPMS interference fix is just to mount a single ferrite core up by where the pug in on the front Cam.

Glad to hear it is working. Mine still is having issues. I have tried everything except getting a cable sleeve. I think I will just be looking for a new dash cam from here on out.
