Foutz racing sells the Pittsburg jack and skid as a unit. Other than that you would need to buy a jack, Craftsman at Sears or perhaps a Pittsburg at Harbor Freight and find a local shop to fabricate an aluminum plate for you.

HF 2 ton, wheels removed, skid fabricated by RPG. Used many times, mostly helping others.

In terms of efficiency and safety, I don't think the Hi_lift can compare. Now if you want to talk versatility from a single device, the Hi-Lift in capable hands is probably the fav.

A word of advice, anything you carry in your truck should have every screw, nut and bolt locktite'd. the screw that held the spring loaded clip for the handle on the HF jack rattled loose and made it very difficult to use the jack first time I needed it. The other day, a pocket knife in the glove box was found in pieces because the screws had rattled lose. Shows how well Ford built these trucks that we are not plagued with shit rattling loose.
