Just so I understand something here the oil monitor in the raptor will go off at 7500 miles or is it 7000 miles. I ask because it says when you see the message change the oil within 500 miles.

According to the manual, we don't have this feature.

Note: Vehicles equipped with a 6.2L engine do not have a message
center with this feature; refer to the 7,500 mile (12,000 km)
maintenance schedule for oil change service intervals.

As long as the oil meets the viscosity ratings for the motor it really doesn't matter witch way you go as long as you pick one & stay with it & have it changed at a regular intervals. I ran motorcraft in my '94 Lightning for 9 years changing it every 5k miles. I'm doing a synthetic amsoil in my raptor now and it does just fine.

So how often are you changing the Amsoil?
Hmm. So what is the oil life thing in the menu ?
Gives you the opportunity to set the oil life to what you want.

I typical run Amsoil in the Night Raptor. At first I was channing it every 5 -6K. But I was channing oil once a month. After talking with @Chris@FreedomMotorsports he told me he would get many more miles out of oil than what people would have thought. He used oil analysis to determine when to change his oil. It was showing about every 12 - 15 K miles. Based on this I moved my oil change intervals to 10K miles. After the change oil light goes off, I'll reset it back to 70%. I keep track of my milage for oil changes and maintenence in a note book, but the idiot light is a good visual reminder.

Since talking with Chris, I've been sending my oil out for analysis and can easily get 10 - 12k miles between an oil change.

I run Mobile 1 and never let the oil life get past 10%. Just let the dealership tell me I didn't change the oil enough. If they give you an oil life monitor and you use it, then it's covered.....

And it changes the interval based on how you drive, pulling a trailer, etc. Believe it.

Want to know myself now. I set my oil life to 10%. So that should trigger something in about 250 miles if it goes off with 500 miles to go. Will post back later what happens.

I use the oil life monitor now and change the oil when it says to. I run full synthetic Mobil 1 and the NAPA Platinum oil filters that are made by Wix. I think 7500 is totally reasonable on these trucks even though they are used hard with synthetic oil and good filters.

For break in, I used the Motorcraft oil and Napa Gold filters (also made by Wix). I changed at 500 mi, 1000mi, 3000mi, and 6000mi. Then went to the current regiment. Oil analysis from Blackstone seems good so I'm happy.
