what is the best nanny setup for driving on snow covered streets

As winter rapidly approaches, what combinations have you tried that work best for getting around on streets in the snow? do you run with traction control on or off? what about off road mode or locking the differential?

When I lived in Michigan and Maryland, I always would turn everything off (holding the traction button for 5+ seconds) because I like to have some fun while driving. I'm a pretty skilled driver, though. Depending on your skill, that should be your answer.

However, with the truck in it's normal operating mode with EVERYTHING on, the truck instantly cuts power if you start spinning the rear tires. I NEVER left it completely on, as if you ran into a pile of snow and started spinning to not get stuck, you'd get stuck because you'd start spinning! Get me?

I'd press it once and put it into sport mode and go from there.

so your saying turn it off to avoid getting stuck???

I think I'd rather run with it off in the snow, but I grew up driving in the mountains up in Washington and never had any electronic nannies in my trucks. If you're not comfortable with it off and in 4Hi then I'd just go sport and 4Hi.

I dont know in trucks, cause i never owned one. But in my bmw x5 and 11 porsche cayenne S i turn off traction control and any aids. IMO driving aids make winter driving even worse!

this will be the first vehicle i drove with traction control aside from occasionally rocking my dads 96 5speed saturn, so i never knew it would completely cut power when you hit a small snow pile im turning it off or sport mode at first based on what you guys are saying good info guys

I drove mine in the snow and ice last year with everything on. If the road was white (snow/ice covered) I would put in 4WD. IDK what everyone is talking about, the traction control on these trucks is amazing

I'm just a hater is all...haha. I don't really care for traction control even though I'm sure it probably does work great.

Also I live in AZ and my Raptor has never seen snow so far, so take my opinion for what it is worth. I've just put lots of miles on other trucks in some pretty nasty conditons in WA and WY.
