Driving in Snow

I think driving in snow is great with everything turned off, however I always add some weight to the box, usually three or four paving slabs for extra traction, if you don't then I would suggest using 4wd Hi or you will probably loose the back end if you are a novice driver in these conditions.

what everyone is forgetting, even as a young buck..i(and probably most) learned how to drive in the snow without any nannies. i had an 83 Buick ...traction control? pfft, snow tires? pfft... snow and ice is unforgiving and NOBODY should think they are safe from the unexpected...but man the Raptor just makes it sooo easy. driving the raptor in snow is a treat.

I took my drivers test in a van with no nannies and bald tires, literally bald, wires sticking out.

No issues passed the test in 5 minutes.

Then when I got into the new one with traction control and abs it actually made the stopping distance further. (could just be dodges ****** system though)

Tested out the abs the other day, super wet heavy snow, JP will know the kind.

Hit the brakes barely, abs kicks in and I cannot turn anywhere at all. Keeps sliding towards the ditch. And these are bigass ditches. 3-4 feet deep. Was sketchy

I learned to drive in a 77 Pacer in the snow. Limited slip rear end too. Fun times in that fishbowl...

I don't know how you guys can state that a Raptor is more safe on slippery surfaces with the nannies off.

More fun? Absolutely. More safe? No.

Especially since the OP was asking for advice on the best setting. This isn't about YOUR driving skills, this is about what the OP should do.

Is steering with the throttle fun? Yes. Is it more safe? No.

You WILL encounter situations that you haven't accounted for like black ice, or ice under the snow, or a panic stop with on half of your tires on dry pavement and the other half on ice. The nannies can do things that you can't, they can save you.

I've owned a Lightning, three M3s, an M5, a CTS-V, and two Wranglers (now a Raptor), and driven in the north all my life and all of those year round. I've competed in autocross events as well as high performance driving events, and I know my way around a track and off-road.

Look, if you want to have fun, by all means shut everything off and see how well the rev limiter works. But telling someone that the safest setting in the snow is to turn off the most significant safety device since the seatbelt is just irresponsible.

Plus if you were in an accident or fatality accident. Big brother would be able to access the black box and see what nannies were turned off. If my wife or kids were killed in an accident, you better believe I would have my lawyer check everything. Including video in motion, black box (accident recorder), cell phone, everything.
