Trade it & get a GTR or vette

I drive my Z06 all the time for dumb stuff to keep the "useless" errand running city/around town mileage off of the Raptor or wife's car. If its not raining out & I don't need to bring my son I'm driving my vette - groceries, picking up the drycleaning, pharmacy & back etc. Pretty much any time I need to go A to B when the weather is decent April - Nov & I'm by myself (or w/ my dog) I'm driving the Z06 & typically getting on it hard......one day this summer I got up early on a Friday for a long weekend took the vette to gym, then picked up friend in RI went to gillette stadium for HPDE then drove it immediately after up to NH w/ my friend in his '03 Marauder (supercharged ;-)) ran it a couple times down the strip @ Epping - got yelled @ for no helmet running sub 14 1/4 times (obvi lol) parked it in lot waited for my buddy to finish up then drove it back down south to MA all in same day. WISHING I broke something so I could just buy some better gear & upgrade it....but yeah...not I haven't broken anything but an endlink try as I might!!!

As much as like the idea/look/interior/engine of that R8 I think you pretty much ended my love affair w/ it w/ that statement right there. I own a sports car to DRIVE it like a ***** ape - & if it breaks I like to @ least have the option of attempting a fix on my own.

I do not want a GTR, too many.
I would only take a c6 z06 blown and cammed and in all black.
If I sell my r8, I'll just keep the raptor and hold on another sports car for a year or so and buy the next fantasy.

If I sell my r8, I'll just keep the raptor and hold on another sports car for a year or so and buy the next fantasy.

Lol - def keep the Raptor no doubt!! Ironically my vette is a blacked out C5Z, but has head work, stage 3 cam, LT headers, lowered 3/4", bilstein shocks, MGM shifter, DBA brakes, built diff, upgraded sways/endlinks/bushings, black powdercoated wheels, tinted LED tails, HID/bi-xenon headlights in stock housings, etc. etc. etc. Will be going in for A&A blower kit (including ****, differential brace, upgraded torque tube, clutch, ECP radiator) this spring, BUT unfortunately was hit by distracted millenial in rear quarter 2 weeks ago...at first was livid but turned it into positive having it fixed by professional restoration shop & adding in a paint correction + painting underside of hood red/black, & while there having 'em remove A-arms/spindles from all 4 corners bead blast & clear coat the components while replacing ball joints w/ greasable MOOG pieces & 4 new Timken hub bearing assemblies. Gonna have a MEAN built street machine clean as hell & ready for another 10 years of abuse.

Keep in mind - decision to do the A&A was after driving a GTR, a Hellcat charger/challenger, GT350, C6 Z06 (mostly stock - intake/tune), C6 ZR1, & C7 w/ Z51 - the obvious progression for someone in a C5Z would be going to the C6Z, but my car is already built faster than a stock C6Z & the way that 7.0 builds power + the additional 250 lbs & larger more insulated feel of the C6 design it no longer did it for me.....so I would highly recommend also driving a modded/built blown C5Z before pulling trigger on a C6Z....I don't think any car company will ever produce something that light (3080 lbs w/ 1/3 tank) w/ that much N/A power, & the ability to completely shut down ALL the nannies.

Def a sickness....I started adding up the $$$ (& time really) already into my vette recently & that's also part of the reason its tough to "upgrade" or trade for something different. I guess I need a bigger garage!

As a track day coach I have driven some cool stuff. The cool stuff runs around $4k a weekend (tires, rotors, brakes, tranny/engine reserves, etc).

My goal was to build a street legal car that handles better than all of them, nailed it with this one. #2300 pounds, Ohlins, Stoptech, E85, etc.

Aston Martin > Lambo & even Ferrari for me these days. That 007? HOLY F**K!! Pics of the Z over various years/mods attached lol - the upgraded exterior lighting/full dynamatted interior, bluetooth etc. combined w/ the pop-up lights & big cam rock/shiver it really is an interesting clash of old school vs new school sports car + muscle car now turning into a classic.

At this point I'd prefer adding to the stable vs. "upgrading" to another vette or simiar sports car - something w/ more refinement/luxury and/or more practical w/ ability to take kids. Lexus RC/Supra/BMW M2/RS4 etc.

How much HP you pushing?

442whp/430tq on a mustang dyno

When the cam was a fresh install it made 428whp, I had since had the intake & heads potted not sure if there really made a 14whp gain or not the conditions weren’t the same. After A&A install etc. I expect to be 580ish w/ a conservative tune & w/ the bigger add-on fuel system shouldn’t have issue going up to 650whp but really pushing limits on stock block @ that level if you wanna do more than street cruising. Also about the hp level you’ll need upgraded tranny & maybe axles- as sits now w/ the built diff since I’m adding bracing + rebuilding or swapping driveshaft the only other weak points are the block/axles
