Why delete the resonator? Isn't the whole reason its there to allow for proper scavenging? I can see getting them out of there if I'm doing anything in front of the resonators, like headers, heads or even forced-air, but otherwise, shouldn't they stay put?

I deleted the resonator and dumped the stock muffler. Gives the truck just the extra growl I was looking for. $0 invested

I just did the Borla 40349 and left the resonator in. $100 for the muffler and $80 to install. It sounds great and really should have come factory like this. That said it it is a little quieter than I expected (and would have preferred) but I didn't want drone.

Really considering the Borla too....guess it'll come down the the deal I get from the local Muf shop. Loved the Mangaflow on my last truck--routinely got complements on the sound--good clean sound, but I've always wanted to check out the Borla.

In 2011 I had the muffler shop weld in a 3000 series SpinTech muffler. Good deep rumble, zero drone or cabin noise. Just not very loud.

I love the SpinTech sound... so last month, after finding a major crack in the mufflers inlet, I had the muffler replaced. This time I went with the SpinTech Super Pro Street 9000. Deeper rumble at idle, but at WOT, this thing ROARS!! I get minimal drone around 1500-1800 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear...but that's it!

SpinTech is different and worth checking out.

I've done it. I replaced the stock muffler with a Magnaflow #12388. It's a perfect weld-in substitution, but I wouldn't do it again.

See this thread:
http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f160/installation-magnaflow-12388-2011-6-2-supercab-26021/

Read your other thread. That sux. Totally see why you didn't take it back. If they put it in that way, then they just don't get it--and never will. No point in giving them another chance to screw it the rest of the way up.

Should I go with Magnaflow over Borla, I'm gonna go with what I had on my 5.3 Silvy...its a much smaller can, so it ought to be a touch louder.

But to your point about not picking up power...You guys are basically confirming my suspicion: given the OEM setup, the current exhaust is about as good as it gets. So a muffler at this point is all about sound--there is no point in wasting $$ on a full cat-back.
