Installed the GJ Motorsports 3rd Brake Light. I inadvertently wired the wrong accessory wire at the foot well and then once I got it wired correctly, it wasn’t working and turned out to be the fuse was blown. Aside from that everything went smoothly. Very pleased with their product. Thanks Nick at Apollo Optics, he’s always a great help and made the purchase transaction go smoothly.

I installed a jimmy jammer kit and bought a rear drivers side door handle. My door handles are not color matched so it wasn’t a big deal. Unless the battery seriously takes a shit I bet the keypad or the remote would work.
I thought about getting a door handle but didn't want to go have to paint so what I did i thought was the next best thing. You prob right but I installed the safety just in case.
I did all this after my X-father-in-law had his Raptor broke by breaking the lock

Have a pic of this? Intriguing idea...
I'll see if I can get a pic of it tomorrow. Its really simple to do. Just find a spot and mount a remote mount battery terminal stud. And then run a wire from positive on battery to it. I actually mounted mine to the front fender well liner. Pretty strong plastic and easy to mount too.

On the topic of X5 vs the competition, here's my two cents which due to inflation is probably worth half a cent. but I speak from experience, not from a test drive.

I owned a 6 cylinder X5 few years back. Very competent vehicle, super smooth transmission, and the inline 6 is a thing of beauty.

I've also owned a 2020 M5. Power? Gobs of it. One trick pony? Indeed. Straight line speed is what it is. Fun to step on but not much else to it. Steering as vague as some questions around here. In fact, it sucks. Zero road feel, no clue where the tires were pointed.

Was seriously considering an X5 M50i loaded. Had a deal in the works. Until I realized it'd be more of the same, horrible dash. Not to engage in superlatives, the the design of the tach is probably the worst I've ever seen, and I've owned over 20 brand new vehicles in the past 7 years.

I've also owned 3 Porsche Macans, an S and 2 Turbo models. You cannot begin to compare the quality and drivability of a Porsche to a BMW. BMW are lease machines. Everyone and their mother drives one. A Porsche is a much different feel, whether it has the same power or not.

I just bought a 2021 Cayenne GTS. it puts the driving experience of the M5 to shame. it's got real steering feel, handling, and the surface coated brakes on mine are beyond compare to anything I've experienced, including both of my 911s that I tracked multiple times.

The brake pedal on my 2020 M5 was terrible, even with those XL pizza pie size disks. I immediately complained that it had a hitch at the top of the stroke. What did the BMW service reply? Oh, look how big they are. As if that has anything to do with a brake pedal that felt unnatural from the moment I got in the car. Zero attempt to fix it.

Yeah, even a trackhawk has gobs more power than my Cayenne GTS, As does the TRX over the Raptor. But I'm not trading my Raptor for it. I will when the Gen3 is out though.

Like you, I've had a number of BMWs in the last few years...a few M3/M4s, M5, and most recently X5M. Simply put, I will never buy another one. Aside from their designs going completely off the rails, their reliability is awful and dealer network support is laughable. "Lease machines" is exactly right, it's as though they're made to be disposable. My next "car" will be a 911. I've had several experiences with 911s on track, and you're 100% right, there is no comparison.

I had a 2005 cayenne turbo. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Reliable, fast, comfortable, incredible handling. Shockingly good off road. It had the full air suspension that made it good at just about everything.

Sold it and bought an X5M that was pushing 750hp. The thing was bonkers in a straight line. I could make passengers crap their pants on demand. But it just always felt poorly built in comparison to the cayenne. It wasn’t as good in the snow, it would be terrible off road, the handling wasn’t as good. It was a one trick pony.

I have a 911 turbo and a Raptor now. I feel like all bases are covered with those two. :)
