I had my new AWE exhaust installed! I crawled under my rig to see how she looked under her skirt and I saw this:0e91242bb6214ebec2857a94abedcc95.jpg

My rig has 900miles on it! Should it be showing this much rust?! It’s the main drive shaft at its connection to the rear axle. Did my installer switch parts while my truck was in their shop? WTF?! Do me a favor fellas look under your rigs and see if you have the same rust action happening.

Not uncommon. I bought a new 2020 last week in Florida and it has quite a bit of rust as well on the rear axle. I am going to coat it soon.

Oh yea? That’s news to me, but I guess it’s nice to here that my shop didn’t swap parts on me. So what do you coat it with?

Put a set of Rigid 360 series lights in (2 spots and 4 driving) from SPV parts. Also, did a little brake caliper painting (and tow hook painting), and Eibachs to get ‘er level (and am I the only one that loves the way the Eibachs look?)View attachment 141130 View attachment 141131 View attachment 141132 View attachment 141133
Stock tire size? More photos of stance please! Debating doing this myself (leveling) and keep stock size.

Ouch! That’s too much rust I haven’t seen that amount of rust on a new rig. If it was me I would definitely visit my dealer and ask for a new part with frankly speaking being very firm about it.

Finally got my truck back from the wrap shop on Thursday

Full matte PremiumShield wrap w/ Revivify Self Healing Nano Coating
ExoShield windshield film
35% Tint (kind of wishing I went a bit darker up front)
Offroad Alliance triple foglight bezel w/ light guards
BakFlip MX4 tonneau cover
Husky Mud Guards

The all important pics:

It is not uncommon. I looked at multiple Raptors in the state of Florida (all new 2020s that were manufactured within the last couple of months) and got underneath each one to evaluate how much rust was on the rear differential. It is just surface rust. I don’t see Ford doing anything about it. Use POR-15 rust remover to remove the rust, then coat it in POR-15 rust preventative coating in black, then finish it off with AMSOIL HDMP or NYALIC.

I think I may have to do some adjustment to the lights left and right but I'm happy with how they came out.

Light comparison:

Great and very satisfying mod are the Eibach springs. You can pick them up on sale for about $203 from Nick at Apollo Optics or Neo Garage (but last I heard they ran out of em). Install will cost because also will get alignment...probably 400-550 (though one FRM member said he got his installed and an alignment for $225...). Yep, stock tires.

There are a few threads on this and I’d say the majority favor this as the way to level while maintaining the excellent feel the Raptor was born with. Some have felt there is less roll and like it better. I’m apparently not as skilled a driver to have noticed anything.

And, I personally love the look of those big beefy matte silver coiled springs you can clearly see.

Sorry, no better stance pics but there’s a thread you can check out with several others who have the Eibachs. Probably the most common Suspension mod done on the Raptors, I’m guessing based on this forum2B3FEC3F-A4AA-44C8-B548-6990AF730477.jpeg4BF63043-E1CA-449A-A13C-4836CBB8FA99.jpeg31CCBACB-616A-4EFF-969B-F90C29E3ECB5.jpeg

You have to take into account when your truck was manufactured, how long Ford let it sit outside in winter like weather, and what kind of weather did the truck face as it was transported to Oregon. Not to mention, how long it sat on the lot at the dealership. Raptors are driven to the rail carts, so the Raptor could have been driven in the winter and/or at a time when chemicals were on the roads. There are a lot of possibilities of what contributed to the rust.

Mine is the same. 3 days ago i just painted myself with black hammer paint. Looks nice for now but don't know for how long. The subframe start some small rust also. I just spray all under with some rust protective don't know what. Mine has 9000 km, i bought it in november, 2019 model.
We have to know it is a Ford, Not a Benz. I am in europe with it, i need to take too much care of my truck because is no warranty here.
