Flushed my power steering fluid using the method in the video below. I noticed some irregular feeling in the steering during slow turns shortly after I bought it. Checked the PS fluid last weekend and couldn’t believe how dirty it was! Probably never been changed in 83k miles. Feels so much smoother now!

I always suck out whatever power steering fluid I can from the reservoir and put new in at my oil change interval. I have Ford replace the fluid every 100k as well. However, I did like that video so I may try and order one of those and do it myself next time. Thanks for the idea

I’ve had one of those vac pumps for about 10 years now. It comes in super handy for all types of things like changing lawn mower oil, etc. I originally bought it to do mid-interval oil changes on my E46 M3.

Make sure you get the correct size hose to stick into the PS line at the truck. I believe it’s 1/2” OD

the plate looks like metal. Going to paint it or "other ideas"? ....nice looking job so far btw.
It is steel, so it’ll get primer and paint. Just sitting there for now though. Too cold to paint outside and the truck is occupying the garage. I need a shop………..

Edit:

Six was supposed to be “aux” in my previous post, that edge turning looks pretty cool. And thanks!

...a shop won't help. I have a 60x40 two bay shop just for projects like this .....but it is FULL of a VW restoration and a Jimmy engine transplant + a complete machine shop.
