Did my first oil change (@1100 miles). Used Mobil 1 and the OEM Motorcraft oil filter.

- Liked that I didn't need to use ramps or stands.
- Liked the little oil tray that directed oil away from the filter.

- Holy hell the guys at the motor plant can tighten an oil filter. I needed the jaws of life to get the son-bitch off.

Just FYI, that's how tight it should be if put on right. Most filters spec hand tight PLUS 3/4 to 1 turn with your filter wrench. The motorcraft filter is 1 full turn. Its printed on the box in hieroglyphics. Get yourself a socket style filter wrench. That with a 3/8 ratchet and short extension and you're all set.

Just be sure to put some oil on the surface before you screw it in. If you do not put any oil on it and go to tighten it down you can crack the filter mating surface.

Absolutely! I also fill the filter 1/2 full of oil before putting it on but that's probably not needed on modern day vehicles. Pumps are pretty high capacity now and the engine doesn't run dry long.

Nice...what was your method of dipping the whole truck to get it nice and even? What kind of kit did you use? How much dip did you use?

There is a shop by my work that does it...way easier to pay someone hahaha
