Why did the line not have a fuse within inches of the connection to the battery..?


Didn't think a strip of LEDs would be that bad. Turns out they're 5 amps.

Be there in February. You can redo everything.

The fuse is not just to protect the device, but to also keep a short from doing just what happened. Does not matter the device draw, a short will pull as much as it can before the wire completely melts as the copper will become a heating element. Just need to make sure the fuse is sized just big enough for the devices load, you want it just above the max draw of the load and under the rating of the wire.
