Dropped it off at Ford last night to have the upper ball joint boot looked at this morning... it's obviously torn. Just got a call saying the ball joint needs to be replaced, which also requires the whole upper arm, and they wont be able to get all that done today. The service adviser made it sound like I'll be covered under my extended warranty, so no sweat.

The catch?

I HAVE to have it back tonight, not repaired, because I leave tomorrow morning for a camping trip in Death Valley. Truck is roadworthy, and not dangerous. I just can't do anything stupid until it's repaired. We'll see how long that notion holds with all those open trails to play with. Wish me luck!

Well I didn't actually do it at work but I've spent the last few hours at work playing around with Excel and created a spreadsheet off-road checklist because I'm bored and a loser lol.

Tried to burn it down.

Long story short, don't mount brackets in holes that have wires ran through then. Saw one spark, said what the ****!?!? and smoke started coming out of the hood. Wire was for my bed lights and wired direct to the battery on a grounded switch. Was able to roll it out of the garage and pull the wire off the battery with a glove. The whole insulation was cooked and peeled right off.

Pay attention to what you're doing and always have a fire extinguisher when doing anything electrical.

On the bright side, I reconfigured my aux switches and now have an engine light.
