Pulled the driveshaft to lube the splines earlier this year and the clunk returned a few days later. Finally got around to pulling it again, but this time I replaced the slip yoke ("flange coupling" per Ford) and the associated U joint. Relatively easy job with the right tools. Hopefully this serves as more of a permanent solution.

Never done U joints before and each of those pops when pressing out the old one was mildly terrifying. :oops:

I did the same thing last year. Relatively easy, but yes, the force needed to get them out was unerving. Also, my clunking remains, although it only seems to do it when its wet out side. No clunks in the dry.
Mine has been clunk free yesterday and today, we'll see how long that holds true. I forgot how much more enjoyable the truck is to drive when it doesn't feel like you're getting rear ended every time you take off or come to a stop.
