Got my gen 1 wrapped in a color similar to the gen 2 grey. A little bit lighter, but I think it came out well.

I can verify your hypothesis, I have a gen 1 with JDM tune and the speed limiter turned off, it’s pretty dam fast I am in SoCal right now drove down Friday night for the birth of my first grand baby in the wings so the wife grandma to be was not my throttle governor. I could go as fast as I felt comfortable. At about 90 MPH I had lots of petal left. My son has Gen 2 which I drove to Chico Ca from my home in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving 2018 so up thru the heart of NV thru Reno mostly nothing but two lane highway where when you make the decision to pass and getting up to passing speed is crucial the gen 2 is hands down far and away superior with the turbos. The 10 speed tryanny seems to shift seamlessly as well. I love my gen 1 but if I could afford a gen 2 I would probably have one.

I see it as apple & oranges for a comparison. Put the 10-speed in the Gen 1 or the 6-speed in the Gen 2 and performance gaps may close significantly.

I agree the 10 speed is a big part of the equation, my son's truck just flies when you step on the pedal a bit when your cruising at 70 to 75 your up to 90 instantly. I am not complaining about my Gen 1 drove home from SoCal today with out my wife she is helping my daughter out with the new baby and I more than held my own on 1-15 and had a nice little duel with a Gen II up the Cajon pass and into Victorville.

exactly.....he couldn’t just run away from me, but he did have a significant advantage....I think another hundred horsepower would even things out a lot!

Well my assumption is I didn’t have enough of the boot grabbed with the tool I was using. That or it was heat soaked and brittle. Who knows.

That's just some bad luck, man. I hate it for you. Why go back to OEM though?

Put on new AC Delco plug wires which one of them was bad and changed the oil and filter this morning. Forgot also installed the Fumoto oil drain valve.
