I finally figured out where my coolant was going. I got decoyed by evidence under the driver side rear of the engine, but it turned out to be a failed thermostat housing O-ring seal. I should have invested in O-rings back in the day, because if I had I'd be filthy rich. Ford dealership charged $8.82 for part number F1VY-8255-A.
Warning: Auto Zone has two part numbers for the 6.2L thermostat O-ring seal and neither of them will provide a leak-free seal.
