The diamond back is def. secure and built really well.I'm going Diamondback HD this time, it's not often I actually need the full bed. Priority was more for secure/waterproof storage. I know their website says it's like 5 minutes to remove but realistically how long did it take you?
ThisBak Revolver X4S.
Oh god, I thought the HD was on the heavy side for the short bed! But thanks for taking the time to write that up, I am pretty much sold on it already but really nice to know it's not terribly inconvenient to remove. Also did not know you could flip the back half onto the front, how does it secure down??The diamond back is def. secure and built really well.
Also made in Pennsylvania.
My diamond backs were on my work trucks (F450’s), and they were the HD model.
mine were on an 8’ bed, and took two people to get the “wings“ off due to the weight/size.
Front and back wings come off quick since it’s just popping off the gas shocks and folding up to get it to slide out of the hinge. I could have both wings off in under 5 minutes. It’s quick.
The center section (what the wings connect to) is the section that is permanently clamped to the bed.
it would only take another 5 or ten minutes to un bolt the clamps to remove this section If you truly needed full bed access.
Remember that you can fold the back “wing section“ over onto the front section to give full access to the back half of the bed. This only takes a minute to pop off the shocks and fold over.
after the initial install, reinstall is quicker since you have the locks set and clamp positions set.
Looks great!Diamondback is the bomb. I went SD version on the Rap, it's lighter and easy for one person to take off and put back on.
