What’s going on here? Middle mud flaps?

Mid flaps like that are pretty common on offroad race trucks. Helps to protect undercarriages from being rock/sand blasted. The correct way to do it is with a soft/flexible rubber sheet that will freely move and not be snapped off easily.

Ps, not saying this is a racetruck but probably where that idea comes from. And if I were buying a used truck with those it might be a plus knowing that underside might be in better shape because of it…

i have known a few guys that had them. it probably would have helped me too. i have had so many rocks kick up, it broke my e brake connection on my passenger rear wheel. as well as destroyed the shock towers and guards. while they look like crap, they do help. big joke is that it keeps the dust down.
