WDH Required for 5,000 to 8,000 lb Towing?

To go from the 5,000 lb total trailer weight stated in the manual to the advertised 8,000 lb trailer capacity as rated, a WDH (weight distributing hitch) is required.

Can anyone confirm they have used a WDH on a heavy trailer with good results?

I'm looking at 6,600 to 6,800# with my 24' Stealth Titan car trailer with either 2 ATV side-by sides ('13 Wildcat 1000X and '17 Maverick X3 ds) or my Vette inside.

Pulled same load with my Gen 1 with no WDH, but additional wheel travel on Gen 2 apparently makes this mandatory on Gen 2?...

Bought a WDH today and will need to get it put on before 500 mile road trip with ATV's in August I guess...

How does the truck sit? Did it squat a bunch on rear? How's the front end feel? Assume your tongue weight is in the neighborhood of 700 lb (10%)...

Check your owners manual, and measure the tongue weight of the trailer that will tell you if you need a WD hitch or not.

Having owned a Gen 1, the new truck does squat more. I just moved the crawler back on my trailer alittle. But, tows great.

Have a 17 scab towing 23' wit wdh and sway bar.not rear happy with results.back end of truck feels very loose at times.also towed with 14 screw,same results.going to try with my brothers f350 see if i get same results.any opinions?

Got the WDH assembled and brackets installed on the trailer over the weekend. Had to lower the battery box to accommodate the left side chain bracket. 2018 Stealth Titan 8.5' x 24'....it's a great trailer for the $ btw.

Just bought a reese straight line for my 17. Works much better than a wdh by itself.
