Thanks, I've got no reason not to trust my smog tech, he's a hot-rod guy and he's building his 1969 Camaro right there next to his smog bay, and he's steered me straight for years and many smogs. Not a big deal to uploaded the OEM ECM sw anyhow, and everything else on my truck has a smog EO or is legit. I still dream of living in a smog-inspection free state, opening my truck up and letting it breatheYour smog tech is right. California smog system runs a checksum on Cal ID/ CVN to verify that the ECU hasn’t been modified. If your ECU fails to provide a matching CVN (to what smog has on record) then you will automatically fail.
