Old habits die hard but this practice is not needed. Modern turbo vehicles circulate oil and coolant through the turbos after engine shutdown.
Yea. I had a 88 Celica All-trac turbo back when it was new and I had to do that. Before the turbo timer days. I don’t know why I still do it. Maybe to allow the turbo to spin down or just, like you said, and old habit. No harm no fowl anyway.

Yeah - my first car was a Renault 5 Turbo 2 - Was mandatory to either install a turbo timer or let idle for at least 60 seconds after a hard run.
