I remember looking at Raptors locally here in the Austin area. Several had "market adjustment prices that added $5,000 to the MSRP. I obviously wasn't willing to do that, and turned to the used market. Most dealerships were willing to work with me on used and take a grand or so off the price for that "feel good" buy. I ended up going used and buying my 2013 Oxford white with faux beadlocks, 801A, blue interior and 18,000 miles for $48,000. That was back in mid 2015. Not the best deal ever, but not a bad one. My Dad got the exact same truck with less miles (13,000est.) in a 2014 MY, in December 2015 for $47,000. He found it on eBay where this dealership listed it at $47,000 buy it now price. When he called the dealership and looked at their inventory on their site and matched up the vin numbers he gave them a call, the sales guy and dealership price had it listed for $52,000. The guy on the phone talking to my dad said it was a mistake and that needed to be changed. Dad clicked the Buy it Now button and the sales guy literally said "Oh SHIT!!". Dad got a good deal, they even picked him up from the airport. My Dad did buy the sales guy lunch though, so that made it all better....

Last dealership I was test driving F150 platinums (2016) at a few days ago told me that the raptor will be in "limited production." I told him that several sources I've read "official" release information and hear Ford execs talk of the features (vid here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG6nhuxv078 ) that it's no longer under the SVT team and is being handled by a larger production facility and that Ford has publicly said that anyone who wants one should be able to order one without issue.

Also this article from car & driver: 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor In-Depth – Feature – Car and Driver quote from them,
The original Raptor’s successful four-year run made it the highest-volume SVT vehicle ever, with production nearly maxed out. It opened up new markets, including the Middle East and several government agencies. Without sharing volume specifics, Ford says all the previous buyers should be able to upgrade to the new truck, and that there likely will be manufacturing capacity available to appease additional new owners.

The sales person told me that's not true and it will still be in very limited quantity. Smelled BS and said, "thank you."

As a final question to anyone here familiar - I just remembered I have a family member who works full time for Ford who is sending me a PIN for their plan (I think it's the "A" plan). What are your thoughts on this? Am I likely to get a hard time from a dealer trying to order one from them using the A plan?

The new Raptor will be under the Ford Performance department. That is no secret and the salesman is an idiot for trying to tell you otherwise. It's been purported that any person who wants a 2017 Raptor will be able to order and receive a Raptor. No production limit is set, only a dealer allocation limit for available lot/floor models received from Mother Ford which is based upon previous dealer performance numbers. You can tell him to take keep his "limited quantity" talk and just go to a dealer who's willing to deal legit. Also, unknown on the specifics on how the alphabet plans work with special vehicles like the Raptor and GT350. You may be lucky utilizing certain plans, or you may be SOL because they don't work with SVT/FoPer vehicles.

One other thing to consider, when the Gen 1s came out, the only folks really interested were off-road guys. The demand didn't go up until it became the cool rich guy truck. The demand for the Gen 2 will be high right off the bat.

Raptors will most likely be made to order as the last ones were. The production will be a small fraction of overall F-Series sales for sure. It will be limited in the sense that Ford isn't going to make 50,000 and throw them on the lots to sit until they sell. It should be a Ford Performance vehicle, which has taken over for SVT.

It has already been mentioned that x-plan is not available for Raptor. Disappointing, but I'm hoping to get a good price when the order banks open in the Fall. My dealer has told me that he has an allocation of 2 Raptors available to him. Not real sure how that effects customer orders vs. vehicles ordered for the dealership to display?

Customer orders should be in addition to allocation. With me they had to send a copy of my DL with the order to Ford to prove it was a customer order

X plan not being available was I thought for the Gen 1 raptors because they fell under the Special Vehicle Team (SVT).

Also, I'd be using A plan... It's quite a bit different from what I understand. You'd think direct (non-dealership) employees would get a bit of a break.

Last update 10/28/15. My understanding is that all Ford Performance vehicles are ineligible for x-plan. Not sure about a-plan.

I would be extremely surprised if Ford allows ANY sort of rebate or discount (they did not for Gen 1). They will sell every single truck, there is no incentive for them to discount them.

As stated above. I don't think any of the plans will be available for use when buying the Raptor. But it's worth a shot. I also can't find any literature about any official discounts or Ford rebates for the Raptor. Past or upcoming. Even the military discount is excluded.

"Military Appreciation. Military discount cash allowance. This offer provides the opportunity to receive a special offer good toward the purchase or lease of any eligible new Ford/Lincoln Car, Truck & SUV through F-550 (Excluding Mustang Shelby GT500, Mustang Boss 302, Focus Electric and F-150 Raptor)."
