It would be hard for anyone to tell from the pictures what caused this, except maybe an experienced fire investigator. From the pictures and my opinion, it looks like the fire began either in the front of the cab or in the engine bay and then worked it's way back, with most of the wind current taking it to the passenger side and rear of the pickup.

What type of smoke did your friend see and from where? It could very well be electrical related as well. There are different types of smoke from flames, exhaust, electrical wires smoldering, etc.

If your friend contacts Hennessey and they deny any type of warranty I would definitely hire a fire investigator to prove the cause of the fire and then share with the world how they screwed him over, no pun intended. It seems like this is just one more story to the numerous already out there about their lack of service, installation, quality, parts, warranty, etc.

You said he noticed smoke? Did your friend get out and look to see what was smoking?

He noticed smoke coming out from the gaps of the hood, then he stopped and opened the hood , say 5 seconds and the smoke increased exponentially. by the time he got an extinguisher ; he couldnt do anything about it

Was the smoke coming from under the hood, or under the cab? Maybe the exhaust got too hot?

Valve cover leak onto exhaust?

What did the gauges look like moments before?

Holy crap...............that sucks
I believe Hennessey's warranty is 1yr/1 fire/12,000 dollars in missing parts........whichever one comes first.
