You're not going to get low end from any shallow-mount sub.

Not true Grasshopper------ask the boys at RPG? My 13.5 JL is in a custom enclosure running almost 1300 w and it will make your balls tingle......

Have a lot of other adds like the Focals and a 8in sub in the modified factory box but mine is SQL and SDL---it can be done just takes money.

How would I hook up an amp to the factory head unit? Is ther an open set of RCA cables behind it. A friend and I are going to add a under the seat box with 2 tens, infinity kappa and a infinity 1600w amp with a capacitor. But leaving the door speakers alone. I don't have the Sony system so I would imagine I have to run all the wires? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks fella's

Dude--think about that---it will sound like crap..

You think the tens and all will sound bad or the combination of the new sub with factory door speakers?

i have posted this a few times but here it is again.
the 10in speakers have a smaller voice coil so you will not get the lower frequencies as you would with a 12in. the 10s provide a tighter bass response rather than a lower one. you could port the 10s to get the frequency to probably 50hz if you are lucky. usually the speaker will move a lot and have distorted sound at that level. the 12s have no problem with this frequency. so as long as your crossover is set at the amp at 100hz, and you dont have a lot of heavy bass at loud volume you will be ok.

what year truck?

Also, if I just need the high to low converter I don't need to take the head unit out right? Where did you tie in the remote wire to so the amp will go on and off with the truck? Some gmc trucks have constant power to all the power sources ( cigarette lighters)

the accessory wire for an amp turn oncan be found at the ignition switch black 7 pin plug pin 6 purple/green

https://www.directechs.com/DirectWire/PrintPhotoNotesBox.aspx?VehicleID=26147&Item=acc

if you have factory sub then the wires are purple/green and green white(1) and green/purple and grey (2) these are located at the amplifier under the center console

if you dont have the amplified system the you can use......
left rear speaker white/green (+) brown yellow (-)
right rear speaker brown/white (+) brown blue (-)
these are usually found behind the radio, but if you dont want to pull the radio you can find them in the B pillar, going into the rear door
