Turbo Part# 2017 RAPTOR

Howdy Folks,

Before you all start, I did the research. Fkers....

As you all know, I am doing an engine swap. I need to get newer or new turbos as well since they have 175k on them. I have seen this part number: https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-turbocharger-driver-side-lh-hl3z6k682b. My issue is, this part number is coming up with all types of varying cost: $300 to $1000 per turbo. The tascapart is the cheapest for BRAND NEW that actually says "3.5 w/turbo 2017" which makes me feel comfortable.

My question is. Is it wise to buy used turbo on ebay with under 80,000 miles on them or new from other websites? It appears to be a ton of variations. Apparently this Ko3 comes on the expedition and other Ford products as well for MUCH cheaper. See examples:

Why couldn't I use the turbo from a 2018-2020 ecoboost vs the 2017 specifically?

And another - where they have a ton of turbos that allegedly "fit" my 2017 FORD F150 RAPTOR

Never buy used turbos, you’re asking for disaster.

The turbos are unique to Raptor; the Tasca link you posted is for non-Raptor applications.

The 2017 part numbers are as follows:

LH Turbo - HL7Z-6K682-A
RH Turbo - HL7Z-6K682-B, which was superseded by HL7Z-6K682-C.

List price is $1100 each.

You may want to consider the Garrett PowerMax kit for $3200.

The used turbo route from a low to medium mileage RAPTOR engine is not a good idea right? What would be wrong with this, if an inspection of the turbine wheel and etc etc was completed?

Aren’t the ‘18+ turbos slightly better and are the a direct swap?

You can’t tell seal or bearing condition without disassembly. Imagine doing all that work and then having a noisy turbo that needs to be replaced again, and likely without a refund.

Not sure if they’re a direct swap or what attributes are different, maybe someone on here who has done it can confirm.

The 2018 LH side is significantly cheaper at only $562 though, the 2017 is $1100.

Thanks a lot @FordTechOne and stay tuned because I need your help on this one. Care to explain why there are different part numbers for these turbos if they are exactly the same?

If the 2018 turbos are fortified, clearly I want those vs the 2017s.
