Hey guys, Im looking to spice my truck up a little bit. I was looking at the 5 star tune or SCT. I dont know alot about tuners so I was looking for some advice. Does each tuner come with different settings?? Are they easy to install and remove? Like for example, off-road/power/fuel-efficient settings? Would it be worth it to get one even though I don't have a CAI? Also what about the warranty? Is it possible to just reset it back to factory settings before I have to take it into the shop or will they know and void whatever work they are performing? I dont want to loose my warranty but im also very intrigued by the performance enhancing abilities of a tuner. You guys can reply on here or pm me if you want. Cheers

I have SVC with just a drop in filter and I have to say it has made the truck way more fun to drive.

basically when you buy a tune you buy a handheld tuner with it and plug it into the truck. The first time you tune the truck it may take some time but after that it never takes more than 15-20 min to do. A tuner will void your warranty, although some dealers are sometimes ok with them and just over look them. i wouldn't bother returning it to stock when going into the shop for stuff like oil changes. The biggest thing you will notice with a tune is improved shift points, no more 6 gear at 35 mph lol. the tune really is a great thing. i hate driving the truck without it

While some dealerships are tune friendly for those less serious warranty work they most likely will change their mind if you have damage to the engine even if the tune didn't cause the issue.

If warranty is the highest priority for you then don't do it.

I have tried several 5STAR and SVC performance, economy, and street tune variants, but always end up going back to 5STAR 93 Performance Tune. Once you go tune, you won't go back. Life is about managing risk and reward, take the plunge and find out for yourself.

I've got 60,000 miles + on my '14 - 50k were tuned. Never had an issue with anything internal. 5 Star has great tunes that won't tear your rig up. Go for it. You will be happy you did.

I'd caution you on this. If there's an update and Ford decides to apply my understanding is it could cause big problems.
Granted if you're not going to a Ford shop for your oil changes then I wouldn't worry about it.
I had an unplanned update once, different truck, but I went back to stock prior to taking it in. "We noticed off your VIN there was an update so we applied it along with the other work."
