over the average width of our radio frequencies, a 31.5" antenna is the best height without going to a stupidly long antenna. it is 1/4 of a wavelength at 1 watt.

Don't notice reception loss on mine, but both the radio stations I (rarely) listen to are close.

One caveat if you go off road, is that a passing branch will knock that sucker off in a heart beat, where a regular whippy will stand up. I got two after that, and one lives in the field box now.

FM radio is like 1% of your listening till you break your antenna, then it's suddenly all you want!

My bullet has way better reception than the stubby and it looks way better and I live in Michigan. I only listen to tigers games on FM. Other wise it's all sat radio or Bluetooth'd pandora. Red Dragons!

Who listens to radio or pays for satellite? I got 8G of music on a thumb drive, not to mention free Bluetooth options..

Man, I'm curious....how did you determine it results in a 25% loss in AM/FM reception? :)

TCSC, don't go bringing wavelengths into the discussion... :)

Radio Rockatillo on AM is some good entertainment while cruising around Ocotillo Wells. I wonder if the stubby antenna guys even hear it? Also if you drive into a parking garage, or other low clearance area, what hits first, your antenna? Or your cab? I like having my antenna hit first if anything is going to. The more I think about it, a stubby antenna is a really dumb mod.

88, it's wrong to be critical of another's stubby! If I didn't know better, I think that the green eyed monster in you just came out.... :)
