German engineering. Don't get me started. I've never seen a German designed automobile that didn't require special tools to accomplish mundane/routine maintenance tasks. I'll never make that mistake again.

You can only go so far with American made cars. If you want nice quality cars, look German. Even the $80k escalade is junk. Now look at a new range rover. Huge difference for the same money

Agreed--a couple of weeks ago got my wife a new TTS and that thing is the nuts!! Makes my GT500 (should have kept the SLK55) and Raptor seem like a 20 year old KIA.. Not to mention that on a twisty track would leave my Cobra sitting there wondering where everyone went!!!

She named it the "honey badger" because it likes to eat Cobra!! No joke she came up with it!

What did you have? I have had a few MB's over the years and all were no problem. My wife just traded her 2008 C300 4matic in and it never even went back to the MB dealer in the 4 years we had it. Hated to trade it but she wanted the Honey Badger!

I think the domestics are really starting to get powertains and suspension figured out. A big helpful Ford is their new "One Ford" approach. Buyers across the pond won't accept ****** handling and a horrible powertains. They used to just get better versions of the cars we have. Now, Ford realized it's cheaper to create vehicles good enough for them and us which benefits us.

Btw, Range Rover is an iffy example. Great interiors, but guess who designed and made their fancy 4.4l diesel...Ford. Too bad they scrapped plans to drop it in the F-150 as well. And I think the diesel Range Rover is only available in the UK as well.

Ford is really starting to intro some nice stuff. You can see some good influences from their previous work with Jaguar and Land Rover etc.

Oh, listen. When you need a special tool to simply pull the drain plug on a German transmission, it doesn't matter what the brand/model is. I wasn't about to spend $40 buy the tool to turn a single drain plug, so I made the damn tool.

German engineering is an oxymoron.

(As a personal aside, I have written my 1,002 post and have now graduated from Full Throttle to FRF Addict status. Addictions are not something to play with under normal circumstances, but FRF is forum nirvana!)

I've had a couple BMW's and an Audi and they're truly engineered for driving satisfaction. Maintenance/ durability is a whole nuther deal. It's a love/hate relationship.

I hadn't driven front wheel drive in over a decade and thought surely engineers have conquered that by now. But I guess I was wrong. Doesn't help that they're sending more power to those wheels than they were 20 years ago.

I just got my wife a FWD Edge Sport. It was on the lot and was just what she was looking for. I wanted to get a little better mileage that the FWD would offer and I got a great deal. Does it torque steer? Yes. Is it excessive? Not at all. My experience is that for a 300+ horsepower FWD vehicle, the torque steer was very predictable and manageable. Compared to some Dodge and Chevy mid-sized sedans I've driven I think it's a pretty well sorted out system.

Just did another 60 miles in the Edge. OK, it doesn't jerk the wheel out of your hands like my old '94 Altima but it just starts wandering at full throttle right and left and you feel like you have to counter steer. Don't like it one bit. Maybe they're all like that.

I guess I should just stay away from front-drive vehicles.

I should add that most people don't have the same tendency to firewall it every chance they get like yours truly so they would be perfectly fine with a vehicle such as this.
