Yeah, I understand that Trey. I was thinking about costs as I typed my last post, and it is probably much easier to pull off large groups than smaller ones. That said, we might be able to make this event even more epic if people had a little more time to save and plan for next April without trying to fit another trip in the middle.

What you were able to pull off with a couple of months of prep for the first one turned out great, and with more time and what we've learned after doing it once I think we could take this thing pretty far. We could form a TRR Committee to share some of the work so that it didn't all fall on you, and the next one would be even better.

I just read in another thread someone asking for more time out there - that would be nice as well. If the ranch would allow it, a couple more days out there would have been great for several reasons. We would have so much more room for activities!

We could definitely get in there on Thursday. I would love to have some people hang back on Sunday to sweep course, and pick up markers too.

A few ideas I have going forward, based on suggestions, etc...

Split the ranch up into camps of 10 or so Raptors. Each camp has shower time allotted, etc. I noticed everyone sort of did this on their own anyways. Might as well utilize it to make things more organized. Maybe each camp can do their 'parade'/prerun lap together.

Stopping points half way through each half of the course. Good for picture taking, checking trucks over, hanging out, etc...

Meet and greet the first night. Maybe we can get a keg sponsor or something.

Name tags.

Build Raptor specific jumps.

More BBQ.

Better Cater Trailer.

Better shooting range time. Man that was fun.

Anyhow, always looking for suggestions to make the next one better.

I"m getting married and opening a restaurant this fall so things are going to get pretty busy for the rest of the year for me...

Congrats and I am sorry. Respectively.

Mod shop/class/day, truck show, how to classes, invade a local resturant for dinner and support the local community, ranch/trail maintenance day..

-Greg

Great ideas. No local restaurants worth invading. I have been going out there for 4 years and have never eaten a meal in either nearby town. Unless you count the gas station burritos at 2 am.

Definately need to do something for Carl, family and ranch staff.. Appreciation dinner, or something to let them know FRF cares/appreciates/thanks them.

Plus the committee is a good idea, with Trey leading it. This way it is easier on Trey and he can enjoy the event also.
Maybe the last day, everyone does one last slow speed lap and picks up flags, trash, markers, etc

I was only able to make a couple of hours of the last event on Friday evening, and didn't even get to make a run due to the set up of my truck at the time - depending on where I'm working, I might not be able to make the next event at all, regardless of the time/date - that being said, I would think twice a year would work better - if there were 50 trucks (Raptors) at this event, how many are going to be there April 2013, if the next event is that far off? Somewhere along the line you hit a point of diminishing returns - I already read several posts regarding limited restroom facilities/showers, waits at the starting line, difficulty passing on the course, etc. - Not a knock on Trey by any means, but those of you wishing for everybody on FRF to be there running simultaneously, be careful what you wish for - Twice a year would still be "epic", and it would not put an unbearable strain on Trey, the toilets, or the ranch in general - it also gives more options to people, as almost all jobs have a seasonality/cycle to them - what about our deployed service members? twice a year ups the chances they will be in the States to participate - those that can't make a given run shouldn't feel left out, but should instead view the glass as half full, cuz there will be another one in 6 months! just my .02!

***edit*** this puts me at 69 posts! do I get rep points for that? lol

I feel the same way. Work schedules, family matters ect .... with two a year you may end up with the same ammount of trucks each date as the first one. I you set a date for later this year I'll be there.

If you move it to next year i might try and do an east coast event that is similar.

There is a "track" in PA that we might be able to use, if you end up pushing to next year i may pursue the idea a bit more aggressively. The nice thing is there is also some pretty decent trails for rock crawling/etc at the park. I have not been there yet to check it out or even talk to the folks that run the show but if there was enough interest i am sure someone could start sorting out details.

I voted for July...I know it's hot, but hell, it's hot in AZ that time of year too. I could do July-August, Nov-Dec for this year, but that's really it for 2012 for me.
