You guys need to make sure where you are going is open. Lot of those trails closed by the forest service. Where I go the fire got within 400 yards of Freemans Guest Ranch on Clear Creek.

Hope it is---if it is further than Clear Creek it should be ok..

Went to silverton/ouray yesterday to run a few trials and none of the ones listed in the planned run are closed (yet). I don't foresee the fire spreading that far west. Not enough growth (nothing) to burn once you meet treeline. Alpine loop, engineer, Imogene, Ophir should be fine. Not even that much smoke lingering around..

Sweet. Thanks for the update.

BTW - What bumper is that you're running?

No problem, should be a fun trip! Can't wait to meet everyone.

RPG raceline. I really like it! Did a rear raceline also. I cut the dove tail earlier that (yesterday) morning before I went to Silverton, so it made for a quick trail trip!

Did you have to chop the frame horns for the raceline? I think I like it a lot. I've seen it on Corey's truck but this looks different for some reason. Thanks!

Yeah had to cut the frame horns for the race line. It wasn't too bad. It's solid though, has 8 bolts holding it on and I was able to reuse my tow hooks, which my drivers side hook saved me BIG time yesterday. Was crossing one of the last creeks going up Imogene and landed in a big sink hole. That hook was the only thing that caught on and saved me from doing any real damage or even worse rolling over because she got tipsy for a minute.

Good to know. Thanks for the update, Pirate. I'll probably do something similar before B1k13. Can't afford the rear yet, but I like the dovetail. IS that done with a simple grinder/cutter or is more skill required? I figure to tape off what you're cutting, but I have no idea after that...

Thanks again. Coming to the CO run? Can't wait to meet you. I've learned a lot from your technical posts.

Also, after cutting the frame horns, can I just weld that sucker on or should I bolt it?

Yeah I ended up using a pneumatic 3" cutoff wheel. Taped off the lines I wanted with some masking tape and went to town. It's a little nerve racking but went easier than I thought. I made brief surface cuts then moved further along so I didn't stay in one place too long burning the paint. There is some inner structure towards the back of the bed that needs to be cut from the inside. I didn't go too high up on the rear because I didn't want to cut into the hinge support for the tailgate.

Yeah I'll be at the co run. I'm off that Friday so I'll probably be around Silverton waiting for people (Ill probably run mineral creek trail and check out black bear Friday). I have to go back to work the 17th though so I'll head out 16th afternoon.

You could weld it on but I wouldn't. If you ever needed to pull it off it would suck and the steering rack bolts hold the bottom support on. Without the bumper pulled away from the chassis the rack bolts don't have the clearance they need to come all the way out. Hard to explain, but I can show you what I'm talking about.

Just got my front axle replaced Friday don't ask. Get a call this AM from my friend, my Truck got broken into at the Ford dealer. My first question was why the hell wasn't it parked inside, second question was why the hell didn't my Viper alarm go off and text me? Would have been out there in a minute.

They got in through the rear sliding glass and destroyed my NAV and front dash trying to get it out. They also tried to pry the backflip up but they failed or got scared off. Lost a nice knife, contour camera, Costa glasses, my handheld radio and my new Delorme inReach satellite communicator.

I should be F&@#$ pissed, but just happy it wasn't worse and the truck was not stolen.
