Mine skips from 1st to 3rd all the time, I have almost 2k miles and have never see the 2nd gear on the cluster to get illuminated.

I find that normal mode is very normal. To me, sport mode shifts are a tad on the harsh side and it keeps the engine at a higher RPM than really necessary and is thus slow to downshift.

I'm pretty sure that is the point of sport mode, I just find it a tad harsh.

I had a 70 Olds 442, 455 with some bolt ons and a TH400. That shifted harshly when you got on it.

You just have to take off with some authority, maybe 1/3 (?) throttle, and she should go sequentially until you get to the speed you want to go. If it’s really not engaging 2nd under heavy throttle then you may want to make a visit to the dealer.

I don't mind the crisp shifts, I love sport mode altogether. The problem is the 4-5 is just a much harder shift than any other shift in sport mode. Almost feels like the truck hit something every time. I thought it would smooth out after "learning" but it hasn't. Maybe there is a flash coming for this.
