I tow a lot so I had my local Ford dealer perform a transmission fluid flush at 41k miles. They assured me that it was not a sealed tranny and Ford allows a tranny flush. Did tranny flush.

I drove the car for 25 miles and gears 8-9-10 slipped a little when engaging. Temp steadily climbed to 238. I limited it to 7th gear with paddles and drove it straight back to dealer. It cooled to 225 indicating overdrive gears were causing it to overheat. Pulled in at dealer looked underneath and it was spraying tranny fluid.

Dealer said they did a cursory check and it was overheating causing fluid to come out of the pressure valve on top of tranny. They need their tech to come in on Monday to do a full diagnosis.

Dealer is an ass and was very casual and unapologetic about the whole thing.

Should I call Ford corporate? Any ideas on what they could have effed up while doing a simple flush?

Yes, call corporate and complain about your dealership service. Sounds like the tech overfilled it.

Exactly what the others said. Overfilled.

With that said, is there a procedure (or need for one?) to burp the transmission after refill? I never had to do that before, but this new 10spd could be different.

Probably the most troubling thing about this incident is that you were getting advice from Sasquatch 77

If you didn’t start with the service manager then start there if that got you nowhere and get the dealer manager or the owner involved

Thanks all. Here's an update: Got a hold of the dealership GM, explained the situation and he promised to investigate.

He called back a few hours later and said they indeed overfilled it. However, he had a rather fantastic explanation for why. He said "this tranny, depending on which car its mounted to, has 3 dip sticks and your truck had the wrong dipstick in it. So when we originally flushed it and checked the level, it was correct. However, it was overfilled. We have now corrected the problem and put the right dipstick on."

uhhh????

Your transmission had 4 dipsticks and one was filling it with fluid.

A little odd, but at least they owned it.
