I thought this was the same transmission used in the 2017 Camaro and Corvette. Have there been problems with them?

Not sure what other application they are putting it in other than the ZL1 Camaro but they have not started producing/ releasing the 10 speed automatic ZL1's yet, only the manual. Probably waiting to see what comes from us test mules

He did also say that the transmission is so new that they don't have a base of history on what exactly to look for. Sounds like they will need to troubleshoot point by point.

sounds like they may actually have to do their job... most dealers/service techs are not very good at that...

prepare for a long wait.

Not in the corvette and the transmission was designed in conjunction with GM. Probably not enough info to say that they are the same transmission using the exact same parts.

I can promise you, with firsthand knowledge. The overall transmission design is the same. For many of the parts, they sourced different suppliers, or slightly different designs for some parts, etc etc.

No need to promise as you just made my point. Different is different now mater how slight. I never said they weren't the same design as that's been all over the internet.

Anyway, hope his issue is resolved!

Just hung up the phone with local dealer.

Update for the day is they cannot get the transmission to stay working properly. They have tried a few different things but ultimately after driving for a short period of time it aways goes back to only working in manual mode. He said that all the data from the last two days has been sent back to Fords engineers and they should hear something back tomorrow.

The situation sucks but it's a bit out of my hands right now. I'm probably more patient about things like this than I should be. I won't have another update until Monday as I am taking my trusty G1 and KTM out to the desert for the weekend. I'll probably take them up on their offer to pick up a loaner even though I really don't need it. How does that work? Pick any car or does each dealer have a pre-set handful on hand for that purpose?

Your problem may not have anything to do with the tranny.
On the Gen1, a water leak at the third brake light would trigger all sorts of problems, that had nothing to do with the light.
