I like the Toyo Open country MT Tires and have read good reviews about them, but do not wish to buy them if they are made in China.
Does any one know where this particular tire is made?

This is from their web site... HISTORY | Toyo Tires
Founding
The vision to manufacture great tires began in August 1945, when the founding president, Mr. Rikimatsu Tomihisa, established the Toyo Tire & Rubber Co, Ltd. in Japan.
In 1966, Toyo Tires became the first Japanese tire manufacturer to establish a subsidiary in the United States. From a small office in Southern California, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation (as it was then known) began warehousing and distributing commercial truck tires. Passenger replacement tires were added to the company's product offerings in 1975, and through a network of independent tire dealers, the Toyo Tires brand began to grow in the United States.
The first tires manufactured in the United States to bear the Toyo Tires brand occurred in the late 1980s when the company began producing commercial tires in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. In addition to supporting the U.S. economy, U.S.-based production allowed for quicker access to inventories with reduced shipping time and costs.
Today, the company's U.S. headquarters are in Cypress, California, and distribution is supported by nearly one million square feet of warehousing in Southern California with additional warehouses in Georgia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Probably China...

Consumer Reports magazine tested 23 affordable all-season replacement tires, seven of them made in China, reported Gene Petersen, tire program leader for the magazine. Of those seven, six finished in the top half of the field, he noted.
They included tires from brands such as Toyo, Cooper, Pirelli, and Kumho. “Because these tires are being built with the companies whose names are on the tires, the same specifications that would apply to a tire made in the U.S. would apply to a tire made in China,” said Petersen.

Did some looking around and apparently they're made in both China and Japan. Just have to look at what's stamped on the tire. This info is from various truck forums I found on Google, so take it for what its worth.

I tried calling Toyo USA and it says your call can not be completed as dialed, so called that Canadian number and that was just blank silence.
Just read an article about 2012 Toyo tires being recalled from the plant in Georgia but the Chinese ones were not affected. they did not say what tires were affected just the sequence numbers.

Two years ago I was looking for my second set of Toyos for my Superduty. The first set went over 60k, and I was very happy with them. I had a hell of a time finding them, and I was told they were moving production to the US because of Tariffs on the imported tires.
Because of this transition in the location if the manufacture of the tires, it took me several months to get them. When I was able to round up a set of four, almost all had to be sourced individually. The final tally for the build location stamped on the tires I ended up with;
Toyo Open Country, 37X13.50X18
1 China
1 Japan
2 USA

That's all I know about it.

That's some good info, after reading your story I would assume that they are now made in the USA because of tariffs, but have also read that tires imported from China is UP 57% from January, so who knows?
I plan on Importing these tires from the U.S. into Canada, because of the free trade agreement if they say made USA I will be fine, if they end up being from China or Japan I will be screwed at the boarder.

Actually, I support your idea, justvettn, to buy stuffs "MADE IN USA". We have to be nationalism sometime. This will keep jobs in the US. We need more jobs for Americans. I will try my best to buy MADE IN USA products.
