Towing question?

You can tow with a Raptor. You can also drag race a Subaru. Neither is the best tool for that job.

My trailer is around 6500-7000 fully loaded and I use a propride hitch. It tows like a dream. Once the weight distribution is set up properly the truck sits level. I went to a truck stop with cat scales to check the weights and set the hitch up. That made it much easier and then you know actual loaded weights, including each axle to make sure your under gawr for each.

A trailer that’s near 7000 empty is probably too heavy once you add all your gear, water, etc. I think mine is mid/high 5000ish empty. 24’ advertised, 29’ overall.

The raptor tows just fine. Not all of us want to have a super duty for towing and Raptor for off-roading. We also pair camping and off-roading very often.

Exactly what 2slo4u said. Raptor not at all ment for towing that heavy. If you do you will have to do alot of upgrades including brakes. My Gen1 with 6.2 engine had a hard time stopping in time to avoid an accident with 500 lbs in the bed and I was standing on the brake pedal

I have easily put 10,000 miles on my 2013 towing an Airstream 27FB at about 7000 lbs GVW . Have been using the Blue Ox with 1000 lb sway bars. I know with the tongue weight and bed load including generator I am at max capacity but have never even come close to feeling over loaded or unsafe. Actually the only thing that bothered me was HP so I added a Roush Stage 2 SC which fixed everything.

I tow between 4-7000# in my 2018.
Anything over 4000, I’m using the WD hitch. Even with that, I put on Deaver +3HDs to help with any rear sag while loaded. Good set up for me.
I would recommend for you to go rent a trailer/ rv for a weekend and see what you think.

Thanks guys for all your input. The more I research I'm thinking IF..I even do anything I'll try to keep the trailer under say 5700 dry. It's only the wife and I so any payload we could put in the trailer. I think that would be a safe number. I hear you about renting. That is a good idea also. Do the dealers let you hook up to see how it pulls before you buy? Just wondering.
Wow just looked at the sticker on my work truck 2015 Chevy equinox. Lol. Pretty sad it has more payload the the raptor.
