I have a travel trailer that is around 6000# (over 10' high catches alot of wind) and have had Deaver +3 leaf springs for 2 out of 3 years with my Raptor and the first year felt like the tail was wagging the dog. The past 2 with the Deavers have been steady and confident. Curt 17500 WD hitch with built in sway control is awesome too. Adjusted right, it doesn't even look like you have any weight on the rear. I don't think the HD +3's are necessary and might stiffen the rear up too much without a trailer IMHO.

As others have mentioned you will need a WD hitch to be within spec for sure...assuming you are at max. Personally I tow an overland camper...Patriot X3 if your interested...it's rated at 3500 max so I'm at about 350-525lbs tongue weight using the 10-15% rule. I do carry recovery gear and some extras in the bed so sag was a concern. I called Deaver to get their advice and wound up with a custom set of springs. They built a set using the stock Raptor springs as a base then added two leafs. The cost wound up being cheaper than the +3 pack which they specifically said was not recommended for towing. The +3 pack is a progressive spring whereas the stock spring and the custom one they built for me is a 2 stage. I also added the RPG stage 2 bump stop kit. When all said and done when I drop the trailer at base camp I can still Raptor around while having improved towing capability. Best of both worlds...at least for me. In your situation you are towing a much larger load so not sure what Deaver would suggest but I'd call them if I were you and describe your use case and see what they say.

I worked with Deaver as well and we went with stock height which I believe is +2 HD springs for me. My wake boat is about 7k lbs. the ride without towing is still much better than the factory springs. I also installed the Camburg bump stop kit. Not sure I actually needed this or not as I’m pretty sure I’ve never hit them yet but I guess better safe than sorry. The Equalizer WD Hitch is great and I’ve also used the E2 hitch as well. I suspect any WD hitch should do the trick.

I plan to add Deavers down the road. My campers dry weight is 3400# and I would estimate around 4000# fully loaded. I run an E2 WD hitch. b8c967292e896f723ebc92472cf8a91d.jpg

Towingus maximus.. bout the max I’d tow without a WD hitch.

I have a blue ox 1000 we hitch for my 20’ race trailer. It’s about 6-6500lbs fully loaded. Recommend the hitch, their customer service has been great, especially for warranty parts.

Ninja edit - Here is the hitch I use. Only real downside is the weight of the hitch. It's a hefty boy. Made in America. https://www.blueox.com/trailer-towing/swaypro/

I just bought a 33’ Jayco trailer that weighs 7500lbs gross, tongue weight 760lbs...had a ton of sag even with the WDH. I took out my spare tire (100lbs) and added a Roadmaster Active Suspension set to the rear leaf springs. Couldn’t be happier with the result. It gave me 2”, little to no sag and pulls great.
