I've decided I don't like the Torsen diff. I hate how it fights me when I'm turning.

It's probably great in 4-low crawling up something, but not in 4A.

Your Torsen shouldn't be catching in normal driving conditions. That's just four wheel drive in general.

Put in in two wheel drive.

No, I am using 4A in slippery conditions. It's fine, it's just annoying.

Yup, you can definitely feel it. With no center diff like a true AWD, that's how four wheel drive feels - especially on pavement. It's because there's drive to the front wheels, which fights your steering wheel. If your Torsen was locking up it would be WAY worse. I had a malfunction on my front locker on my jeep once on pavement, it's a whole new world of not being able to turn!

4A is similar to AWD. If you turn on the power distribution screen you can see how it varies the output to the front wheels much like an unlocked center diff would.

Why not just put it in 2WD? I mean, damn- what are slippery conditions in Texas? Wet roads?

I've driven full size 4WD trucks for the last 20 years and never once put it in 4WD for anything but snow, ice or mud. If you need it in wet conditions, you should probably just ease off the gas a bit there Tex...

And it does this how? Without a center diff you are still bound front to rear wheels. It's still going to fight you.


But, living in Colorado, what do I know about four wheel drive?
