That's not normal. Sounds like you got a defective tire. I've had 37's on vehicles for over a decade, including solid axles and never had this problem.

Maybe you had E rated load range. They have more plys than C load rated tires and may help prevent the stretching. But either way a big heavy truck with tall tires and high ground clearance going at speeds more than 120mph can cause bad things to suddenly happen. Just my thoughts. I feel much safer being in a car at high speeds rather than a 6k lb truck that has no spoilers to create down forces

How fast do you wanna go in a heavy truck with 37s??? That will get sketchy and possibly deadly

This is my thought too. I think my Gen II Raptor top speed was 112mph, and my TRX top speed is 118mph. I’ve touched 118mph just to say I’ve done it, but I don’t need to do it again. 120mph in say a Mustang or Challenger is a whole different world than a Raptor or TRX.

I'm not arguing that I need to go 140+ in my R, that's not the point I'm making. I understand how large sidewall tires work, and why they are not rated for higher speeds. I wouldn't expect the R's tires to perform like my track car. The point I'm making is that your sidewall should not deform like that and cause death wobble normally. If you have a sidewall stretching to the point of permanent deformation it's a defect in a tire.

I understand ya. Didn't mean to make a argument over it. They never permanently deformed. There were times it didn't happen at all and had it happen to me on other times. Could be alot of factors that cause it like tire pressure being uneven, suspension needs servicing etc. But Tall tires Do Stretch especially compared to high speed rated low profile tires. My main point was, it's a Off Road truck and one hell of a good one, I accept were the factory limiter is and enjoy getting to it quickly once in a while. I never bought my Raptor to win drag races. I do like reading what others do to there's with mods and such, it's the gear head in me. As for me I enjoy what I got and put my money towards maintaining it. The Raptor R is a dream for me. Be a Great toy to have. And would Enjoy what it is as is.

Off road race trucks use factory tires. Yes they are inspected and checked out but they are often the same tire we can buy. And they are going 140 mph and not on a highway.
