I think it might be good to note that we know someone that had his truck plastidipped for about a week before he pulled it off because of the staining after Havoc. Hell with some of the crazy environments we get into, Night Raptor has a couple spots of staining on the vinyl, not to mention all the pinstripping. In Arkansas we came close to going through the vinyl in one spot. I think plastidip would only work well with light or no offroading or depending on your local mud and tree situation, etc... Not knocking the product at all, just want to make people aware that it isn't going to hold up the same as vinyl.

Agreed plasti dip will not take the same abuse as the vinyl will

I can't speak for others plastidip stuff but I haven't had any problems with mine and I have been off road with it several times and brushed on branches and stuff that would have pin stipped the paint(I know it would have because it did pinstripe my paint before I plastidiped it. And I haven't had any staining issues either. It would be cool if people with first hand experience shared said first hand experience with vinyl and or plastidip. I could go on all day about I know this one guy that had a bad experience with such and such but is that useful to anyone?

I am in no way putting plasti dip down it is a cool product. I personally have no experience with it (so i shouldnt even be talking about it i guess) i just assumed it wouldnt be nearly as durable as vinyl. But you know what they say about making assumptions lol

Wow, somebody is awful sensitive. Actually I do have first hand experience with Plastidiping our skid plate and bumper and such and it didn't hold up for crap... I don't think its the same as doing the whole vehicle and didn't say that it holds up like crap on a vehicle, did I? Maybe @Kanakry would like to comment on why he pulled his plastidip off after a week following Havoc, since I'm not allowed to mention such things. As far as first hand experience on wraps, I've got two wrapped trucks. The term off-roading is relative to whatever you are familiar with and have available, just as all trees and pin-stripping are not the same. I'm just trying to be honest with people that that might not know any better and could think that plastidipping is just a cheaper way to wrap a truck that will hold up the same as vinyl... its not. Its a temporary color change for certain people under certain conditions. If that works for you cool, and no one is putting you down for it.

Maybe I was being a little sensitive. I have been kinda cranky lately I had surgery and my heel is broken and I've been on crutches for going on 2 months. So maybe I was a lil sensitive lol. Sorry.
I don't mean to take it personally. The things I know about plastidip goes against what allot of people think about it. Like allot of people don't know that it comes in gallons in colors other than black. You can mix pearls in the clears just like paint. And you can mix custom colors just like paint. There is things that you can do with it that help maintain it like waxing it or using spray detailer helps to make it easier to clean just like paint. I guess that it felt kinda personal for people to say things about a product I use and enjoy and have fun with that are not true to my experience and knowledge. I'll just try to let it go and sorry if I was being babyish lol. But I had an idea earlier, when I can walk I'll put my gopro on the side of the truck and put it through its paces and show how it holds up to my driving style. And I'm sorry if I derailed the thread.

I also forgot to mention that for off-road use the plastidip needs to be put on thicker. About as this as vinyl would be. Most street use cars don't need to have such a thick coat because a car wash brush is about as much abuse as it would see.

Its all good, its probably the fact that I'm pregnant and cranky myself. I apologize also. :handshake:

While I'm an avid supporter of plastidip , it does not hold up as well as vinyl.

But vinyl is not as cheap as plastidip.

I've ran plastidip on my hood and fenders. Great thing is you can easily apply another coat if there are any issues.

That being said- I'm going to vinyl soon.

Im with you on this. Ive had my rims plasti dipped since I got my truck and I have had no issues with it what so ever. Its actually surprised me how well its held up. Now if I were to want my whole truck done I would probably go with a wrap unless I used a paint gun to do the plasti dip.

Call Harley at 714 Motorsports in Westminster. I saw them wrapping a Raptor and they do a great job, they had removed the bed while I was there to tuck it nicely between the cab and bed.
