To downpipe or not to downpipe???

Depending on the dyno.... the truck makes about 450 horsepower tuned. It’s a delta of around 80-90 rear wheel horsepower. The torque increases are greater, particularly at low RPM. This is on 93 octane.

There is no secret sauce. That’s the limit with stock turbos. Whether you use MPT, Goose, JDM, and even Five Star, That’s the power you have to work with. The difference between the tunes is really in the spit polish, the transmission tuning, the different values for throttle tip in and torque lockup.

In other words, you’ve got what you’re gonna get. You can buy as many tunes as you want and it’s not going to change it very much. How do I know this? Because I bought nearly all of them for fun. (Goose excluded because it has become clear the limits and there wasn’t a point.)

Unless you want to swap turbos and manifolds.... you’re mostly done. There is a small amount to be gained from a quality intercooler, AMS tubes and SPD adapters but you’ll pay a fair price for that extra 20 horsepower.

Keep in mind here... it’s a 5600 lb Offroad truck. What you feel from performance mods is going to be blunted by pure inefficiency and coefficient of drag.

If you need more power and you want it badly... stick with what you have... don’t put more money into it.... and buy the new supercharged V8 Raptor that’s coming out. OR.... you could place an order for a Hellcat Ram TRX today.

Beau, it seems like you definitely need to do some more driving to let it adjust, for both the engine and the tranny. Install your thermostat and then once you've driven it a couple weeks log some more data and send it in for them to fine-tune it. Like Guy said, I really doubt you're going to see anything appreciable out of goosetuned, especially for the money you would spend on it. Let us know how it goes!

If you're looking for the OMG improvement, you must go with Goosetuned and at least 50% ethanol mix. The timing advance is very low on gasoline, but the ethanol allows significantly more timing = more power.

Thanks for that info. I didn't realize the turbos were the limiting factor. I guess this explains why the 3.5 and 3.5 HO make about the same amount of power when tuned.

Had the turbo adapters, intake and thermostat installed. What a difference! Had a chance to get really aggressive with it and am very happy with the mods and MPT tune. Just waiting on the CVF intercooler to arrive.

Did the turbo adapters change your exhaust tone? Which tune did you choose?

So the consensus is the DPs do not add power but the turbo adaptors do and are worth it?
The turbo adapters have been dyno tested and add about 20 hp. The downpipes may be worth it if you were to upgrade the turbos but the data shows a decrease in power when adding downpipes to a stock turbo truck (according to the youtube comments).

The turbo adapters are a cheap 20 hp but are a complete PITA. Make sure you purchase the 'turbo adapter install kit' as well. It will take several hours to do.
